HISTORY

To improve the qualification of workers working in energy plants, operating electricity and heating grids, and those involved in the works of construction and installation, the then-head management body of energy and electrification made a decision on 17 November 1964 to establish a training centre, where the training began to be organised from 1 December 1964.

On 23 December 1964, the chair of that management body issued an order to notify energy and electrification enterprises and organisations of the fact that from then on the head management body will organise courses for energy and electrification workers. From 4 January 1965, training groups of construction workers-electricians, powerline electricians, installers of local relay service, and inspectors of energy application in agriculture were formed. That is how what is currently known as a PB Training Centre of Energy Specialists began its operation in 1964 as a training establishment.

After a while, in 2001, the enterprise was registered in the Register of Legal Entities of the Republic of Lithuania as “Respublikinis energetikų mokymo centras” VšĮ and expanded its operations over the five largest cities of Lithuania of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, and Panevėžys.

Finally, on 31 October 2014, to better reflect the geographical aspect of the services and the nature of the services themselves, the enterprise was renamed to PB Training Centre of Energy Specialists.

Until August 2017, the enterprise was in the company group “Lietuvos energija”, now known as Ignitis. The financial results of the enterprise and the range of its services have made it feasible for the then-owner of “Lietuvos energija” to sell the profitable business, so on 14 August 2017, the shareholder rights were transferred into private hands.
